All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.

Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.

Dean Koontz's Forever Odd remains on 4 print lists this week, ranking in the top 10 on 3 of them. Aside from a couple Harry Potter titles, the current record for longevity on all lists is the trade paperback of Gregory Maguire's Wicked, no doubt sustained by interest in the Broadway musical version; it's been on one list or another for 109 weeks, over 2 years. Its follow-up, Son of a Witch, has been on hardcover lists since its debut for 14 weeks now. Harry Potter titles Goblet of Fire and Prisoner of Azkaban have been on lists for 151 and 177 weeks respectively, and that's counting only the trade paperback editions, not the earlier hardcovers. The first two Potter titles, Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets, have been on lists even longer -- since before this page began tracking cumulative rankings.
