The System of the World by Neal Stephenson led hardcovers by a hair this month, with Going Postal and Incubus Dreams tying for second only a few points behind. New runner-up: Cally's War, John Ringo & Julie Cochrane (Baen). Nominees: 51, down from 70.

Exile's Valor by Mercedes Lackey easily topped the paperback list. New runner-up: Gunpowder Empire, Harry Turtledove (Tor). Nominees: 80, up from 66.

Neal Stephenson's Quicksilver left all other trade paperback titles in the dust, with more than four times the points of the closest competitor. New runner-up: Murder by Magic, Rosemary Edghill, ed. (Warner Aspect). Nominees: 61, up from 54.

Star Wars: Medstar II: Jedi Healer led the media-related category. Nominees: 31, up from 23.

Forgotten Realms: The Two Swords firmly trounced the other gaming-related titles. Nominees: 27, up from 17.
