Tim Hays § Date: Mon, 23 Jun 1997 14:15:54 -0400 (EDT) From: "John O'Neill" editor@sfsite.com To: Mark Kelly mrkelly@compuserve.com Subject: coverage of Locus at SF Site Just a quick note to let you know that the Locus website was selected by our editors to be our "FEATURED SITE" for June. It's been highlighted on our front page since we went live with our new format, at: http://www.sfsite.com I hope you have a chance to stop by and have a look. § Date: Sun, 8 Jun 1997 17:11:50 -0400 (EDT) From: LadyKuk@aol.com To: locus@locusmag.com Subject: Kudos What an efficient and fast-loading website! I'm especially excited about the page for Breaking News; that could become a very important asset to writers, the publishing industry being as changeable as it is... Plus, I'll be able to renew via e-mail from now on! Good effort and a good design. Mark Kelly gets two thumbs up. Terry § Date: Thu, 8 May 1997 02:20:16 -0400 From: "John O'Neill" editor@sfsite.com Subject: Locus website Cc: locus@locusmag.com Mark, I wanted to write and thank you personally for featuring the SF Site so prominently on the "Links" page on your website. It was a real boost to our staff to be listed first, especially since you included so many other fine resources on the list. We've been striving hard to become the premier site for true SF fans/book lovers on the Web, and it's gratifying to be recognized by the flagship publication of the industry. Having said that, I have to tip my hat to the rest of your website as well. We've been patiently listing Locus' site in our own SF Resources section ever since you first started mentioning it in the indicia on page 3, but I admit to wondering if it would ever really appear. I also expected a fairly rudimentary first effort, something akin to the larger index sites: plenty of content, very little oxygen on the page. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the striking layout and design of your site. You obviously have a professional background in web design, and you've taken the time to craft a clean and very original look. The content, as expected, is up to Locus' usual standards. All in all, you've vaulted to the top of our hotlist. Kudos all around. Our Links editor has already placed a link to your page off of our homepage (www.sfsite.com). Some 70,000 people visit the SF Site every month, so I hope this will help get the word out. If there's anything else we can do, please be sure to let me know. Welcome to the Web! Best regards, John O'Neill Managing Editor SF Site § Date: Thu, 01 May 1997 12:26:32 -0700 To: mrkelly@compuserve.com Subject: locusmag Wow, this thing came up _fast_! Very impressive work, especially on the front page, which feels like a huge graphic but isn't. I'm going to set you guys up as an Editor's Pick of the Month over on the Speculations site; thanks for the link you've already put in to us. (Um, if you have a second, I'd love it if you could fix our title; we're Speculations, not Speculations Newsletter. But that's nitpicking. --Kent Brewster, publisher, Speculations editor@speculations.com § Date: Sat, 19 Apr 1997 09:48:02 -0700 Sender: charles_barrett@compuserve.com To: mrkelly@compuserve.com Subject: Locus Magazine Web Site Very nice!!! You've done a splendid job of giving all of the pages a consistent, unified style that hangs together beautifully. The graphic elements really contribute without being distracting or causing slow loading. Excellent job! Charles B. § |
