The Mysteries of Harris Burdick Chris Van Allsburg (Houghton Mifflin 0-395-35393-9, Sep ’84 [Aug ’84], $14.95, unpaginated, hc) A book of illustrations from unwritten books for children, the “Mysteries” are indeed enigmatic and wonderful, from the glowing pumpkin to the rocket/house ascending from Maple Street. This is the most impressive — and fun — art book of the year. (FCM)
