Rather disconcertingly, this volume drops most of the story threads built up in the first two volumes in favour of a quest to the Eastern Lands, and then has to hurry to tie up all the loose ends. Still well thought out and well written, but would have done better as a less frenetic, second, trilogy in its own right. (PSP)
