THERE ARE THINGS YOU CAN DO OTHER THAN JUST $$ DONATIONS! SOME ARE VERY EASY AND FREE!
– We have a YouTube channel! Help us reach the threshold for partnering for advertising income (1,000 YouTube subscribers) This allows us to earn a portion of the already existing advertising. YOU CAN HELP US HIT THAT GOAL! All you have to do is go to our channel, check out a New Books video, CLICK ON LIKE, and then SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL.
– Same reasons as above: go LIKE and FOLLOW our page on Facebook. We can earn from the third-party advertising once we hit 10,000 followers.
– Talk about Locus on whatever channel or platform you have. Tell people that you got your issue, that you read a good review, or why you love the magazine. Word of mouth is extremely important, and how the largest percentage of Locus readers hear about the magazine.
– Reach out to us if you have fundraising or grant-writing experience and can help out! We really need volunteers who can help us drum up support and funding. Email to: email@example.com, subject line: Fundraising. Thank you!
PRINT ADVERTISING INCOME, the heart-blood of the magazine industry, is gone. Across the industry.
We are now relying on the support of our readers to keep the magazine going. We have so many visitors to our site each month, if enough people who enjoy our content would donate even a small amount, we could raise enough funds to cover our shortfall, and would be able to keep putting quality content like reviews, interviews, and articles online and accessible to everyone. Being an impartial source of information for writers, librarians and booksellers, bibliophiles, readers, fans, and pros is essential to our mission, and in order to keep that forefront we need your support. Printing and shipping alone cost approximately $130k per year. We don’t want to move our content behind a paywall and drop our print editions, as many other newspapers and magazine have done. Help us keep all this great content available to everyone and in print!
The Locus Science Fiction Foundation (LSFF) is dedicated to the promotion and preservation of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Its central activity is the publication of Locus, the Magazine of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Field and its website. LSFF is also responsible for the annual Locus Awards, first presented in 1971, to recognize excellence in science fiction and fantasy literature, and running a quarterly writers workshop. The costs of maintaining Locus extend far beyond what our subscription and advertising revenue currently cover, and your support is essential to our survival!
