All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.
Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.

The big debut this week is Laurell K. Hamilton's Bullet (Berkley), latest in her Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. It ranks on all five print lists compiled here, as high as #2 on the New York Times and Publishers Weekly lists.
At the same time, Stephenie Meyer's The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner (Little, Brown), a novella in her Twilight series, ranks #1 this week on USA Today's list. Released 10 days ago, it may have appeared too late for the other print lists, or they may be disregarding it as a YA book. We'll see next week.
Summer reading season has arrived, and so paperback editions of Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 and Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four have reappeared on the USA Today extended list. Rand's Atlas Shrugged, meanwhile, is up to #21 on Amazon.com today, perhaps a sign of political tides.
