All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.
Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.

Charlaine Harris' A Touch of Dead (Ace), a collection of stories about Sookie Stackhouse, heroine of her ongoing series of novels, debuts on four print lists (every one compiled here except San Francisco Chronicle's) this week at #2 -- as impressive a debut as one could hope for, given a recently released Dan Brown title (The Lost Symbol) entrenched at the #1 position on all these lists.
Significant in a different way is the #1 rank today on Amazon.com of Stephen King's Under the Dome (Scribner), due to be published November 10th, benefiting from Amazon's price-war with Walmart; Amazon.com is offering the book for just $9. The same price is available for other related forthcoming titles, including Michael Crichton's non-genre Pirate Latitudes (Harper, Nov 24), ranking today at #13 on Amazon.com, and Jim Butcher's First Lord's Fury (Ace, Nov 24), ranking today at #85.
Significant debuts without price-cutting advantages this week are Terry Pratchett's Unseen Academicals (Harper), ranking on four print lists, as high as #10 at Washington Post, and R.A. Salvatore's The Ghost King (Wizards of the Coast), third book in his Forgotten Realms "Transitions" series, on three print lists, as high as #11 at New York Times and Publishers Weekly.
Also deserving of mention are several other debuts this week: Kristin Cashore's Fire (Dial) and Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan (Simon Pulse) debut on New York Times's children's chapter book list this week, ranking #4 and #5 respectively; in paperback, Sherrilyn Kenyon's Born of Night (St. Martin's) and Lynn Viehl's Shadowlight (Onyx) debut on New York Times's mass market paperback list this week, ranking #6 and #17 respectively.
