HWA Summer Scares Reading Program

The Horror Writers Association (HWA) is partnering with United for Libraries, Book Riot, and Library Journal/School Library Journal to launch the Summer Scares Reading Program, “an annual list of recommended horror titles for adult, young adult (teen), and middle grade readers.” Each year, a special guest author and a committee of four librarians will announce the selection of nine fiction titles on February 14. The guest author for 2019 is Grady Hendrix. The 2019 librarian committee consists of Carolyn Ciesla, Kelly Jensen, Kiera Parrott, and Becky Spratford. Authors of selected titles will participate in panels on May 10, 2019 (Librarian’s Day) during StokerCon 2019 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids MI. Ladies of the Fright podcast will record episodes as the official Summer Scares podcasting partner.
