Head On John Scalzi science fiction book reviewNo changes from the top of last month’s hardcover list, with Head On (John Scalzi’s sequel to Lock In) in first place, followed closely by Christopher Moore’s Noir in second. The new runner-up was Only Human by Sylvain Neuvel (Del Rey), the third book in The Themis Files. We had 43 nominated titles, down from 44 last month.

On the paperback list, perennial favorite The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss reclaimed the top spot with a comfortable lead, as Ready Player One by Ernest Cline dropped to second. The new runner-up was The Summer Dragon by Todd Lockwood (DAW). There were 47 titles nominated, down from last month’s 60.

On the trade paperback list, old favorites were back in force as first place went to The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu and second place to N.K. Jemisin’s The Fifth Season. There were no new runners-up. We had 69 titles nominated, down from 73 last month.

In media and gaming related books, Star Wars: Phasma by Delia S. Dawson just edged out Timothy Zahn’s Star Wars: Thrawn to take first place. There were no new runners-up. We had 21 titles nominated, down from last month’s 24.
