Ustream to Re-Broadcast the Interrupted 2012 Hugo Awards Ceremony Stream

The 2012 Hugo Awards ceremony will be broadcast in its entirety on Sunday, September 9, 2012, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Central Time, at www.ustream.tv/channel/hugo-awards. The original live broadcast on Sunday, September 2 was interrupted in the middle of Neil Gaiman’s acceptance speech when an automated infringement system detected content that was copyrighted in the stream. Although the material, a clip from the Doctor Who episode penned by Gaiman, had been cleared for use, Ustream was unable to restore the feed before the ceremony finished. The interruption was met by a storm of Twitter users upset about being unable to watch the ceremony. Ustream CEO Brad Hunstable expressed his regret on his blog at the loss of broadcast, and plans to do additional publicity and support for upcoming Worldcons in San Antonio (2013) and London (2014).
