Amazon Updated Reamde on Kindle

Amazon replaced Kindle editions of Neal Stephenson’s Reamde on customers’ devices, issuing an e-mail which cryptically said “the version you received had Missing Content that have (sic) been corrected.” The replacement upset a number of readers, some of whom were well into the 1,000-page novel, as the mandatory update wiped out all personal highlighting, notes, and bookmarks — and gave no clarification of what text had changed.

One reader reportedly compared the old and new versions of the text and found the corrections were minor — mostly punctuation and formatting — and that in one case a new typo was introduced.
