SFFH on Bestseller Lists
14 April 2002

David Gemmell's Stormrider (Bantam Press UK) is #6 this week on the Times of London's hardcover fiction list. The US edition, from Del Rey, just went on sale April 9.

Three other debuts this week: Mercedes Lackey's Gates of Sleep (DAW) is a New York Times runner-up at #28; John Ringo's When the Devil Dances (Baen) is #30 at NYT and #23 on Amazon's hardcover list; and Christopher Moore's Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal (Morrow) is in the top 10 on lists from Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Meanwhile, Stephen King's Everything's Eventual (Scribner) makes it onto BookSense's list this week, but slips on other lists, and has yet to appear on the San Francisco list.

In Los Angeles, Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, subject of a city-wide reading program this month, is at the top of the paperback fiction list.

This cell color indicates rankings on children's bestsellers lists Italics indicates stale data -- rankings from one or more weeks before

The table compiles SFFH books placing on general bestseller lists. The table shows the current rank of each book and the change since last week are shown, where:
   = same as last week
   + or - with number: difference since last week
   + back on list
   ++ new on list
   x no longer on list (number of x's: weeks off list)

Columns show ranks on lists from, respectively, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, London Times, Publishers Weekly, BookSense, Amazon.com (fiction lists), and Amazon UK (fiction lists). All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats.

Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.
