Dune: House Corrino swept the hardcover category; The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Antrax and Narcissus in Chains made strong showings as well. Anne Rice's Blood and Gold (Knopf) was the new runner-up. We had 65 nominees, down substantially from 82 last month.

His Dark Materials 3: The Amber Spyglass topped the paperback list by a slim margin. New runner-up: Stars & Stripes in Peril by Harry Harrison (Del Rey). Nominees: 95, down from 101.

The Lord of the Rings finally dethroned The Mists of Avalon (No. 1 seven months straight) in the trade paperback category. Forests of the Heart by Charles de Lint (Tor) was the new runner-up. Nominees: 40, down from 69 last month.

Star Trek, New Frontier: Gateways, Book Six: Cold Wars had a solid lead in media-related titles. Nominees: 43, well up from 29.

BattleTech: Call of Duty was the easy winner in the gaming-related category. Nominees: 26, down from 29.
