The 2001 Locus Awards were presented Friday evening, July 6, at Westercon in Portland, Oregon. The awards are given to winners in Locus Magazine's annual poll, which this year solicited ballots both online and using the traditional mail-in paper form. Complete Locus Poll results will appear in the August issue of the magazine.
Toastmaster at the awards banquet was Connie Willis. Ursula K. Le Guin, Lucius Shepard, Gardner Dozois, and Tor Books publisher Tom Doherty were on hand to accept their awards. Best artist Bob Eggleton sent a larger-than-life drawing of himself in lieu of a personal appearance (see photo). In addition to the Locus Award plaques, certificates were given out to publishers of winning books and stories.
