The new David Weber had a strong lead for hardcovers, and Terry Pratchett also did very well, now that his latest book is out in both US and British editions. Once again, there was a tie for #10. New runner-up: Hero in the Shadows by David Gemmell (Del Rey). We had 89 nominees, to last month’s 83.

Though Goodkind and Card had the two major paperback sellers, Pratchett is here with three reprints, back after quite a few years - that signing tour must have had an impact! There was no new runner-up. Nominees: 101, up from 97.

For trade paperbacks, two newcomers went right to the top. New runner-up: Partners in Necessity by Lee & Miller (Meisha Merlin). We had 65 nominees, to last month’s 63.

For media, the latest ‘‘Star Wars’’ book still did well, but there was a near-tie with the new ‘‘Trek’’ title. New runner-up: Batman: No Man’s Land by Greg Rucka (Pocket). There were 28 nominees, down from 31.

In gaming-related, the new ‘‘DragonLance’’ dominated, and so few titles had significant sales, an old series book took fourth place. Nominees: 27, to last month’s 29.
