The new prequel to Dune raced to the top of the hardcovers, with Ender's Shadow and All Tomorrow's Parties not too far behind. The first six titles dominated the list, and there was no new runner-up. We had 84 nominees, up from 72 last month.

All but one of the paperbacks are new this time, but there was no new runner-up. Nominees: 95, the same as last month's.

In trade paperbacks, Rowling and Russell dominated, with relatively few points for the others. LOTR returned after many years. We had 81 nominees, up from 68.

Keyes has a strong lead for media-related books. We had 34 nominees, up from 26 last month.

For gaming-related, the new ''DragonLance'' stayed in the lead for a third month. Nominees: 25, up from 20.
